Freedom is a simple productivity application that locks you away from the internet on Mac or Windows computers for up to eight hours at a time. Freedom frees you from distractions, allowing you time to write, analyze, code, or create. At the end of your offline period, Freedom allows you back on the internet. You can download Freedom immediately for 10 dollars, and a free trial is available.

Freedom enforces freedom; you'll need to reboot if you want to get back online while Freedom's running. The hassle of rebooting means you're less likely to cheat, and you'll enjoy enhanced productivity. If you need to be productive, Freedom might be the best 10 dollars you'll ever spend.

Updating Freedom’s Presence

Thanks to your support and donations, I have been able to find time to make improvements to Freedom.  One of the first improvements is this new website, built using WordPress and 5ThirtyOne’s awesome GridFocus theme.  I’ve wanted to update Freedom’s web presence for some time now – you’ll also notice the new URL, http://macFreedom.com.

I have a few goals with this new site:

  • I want to make it easier for people to find support, request features, and discuss Freedom.  In the previous iteration Freedom users had to go to a post buried in my blog and leave a comment.  Here things are a little more centralized and navigable.
  • I will be using the blogging functionality to talk about approaches to productivity, tips for using Freedom, and discussion of strategies for Freedom.  I will also use the blog to announce new releases, so if you’re a Freedom user, subscribe to the RSS (or bookmark this site).
  • Finally, I will use the blog to highlight conversation about Freedom.  You’ll notice links to Twitter discussion, and selected quotes from writing professionals who have benefited from Freedom.

Again, thanks for your support, and now go turn on Freedom and get some work done.
