Freedom’s Little Brother
One of the most common requests I get regarding Freedom is that people would like to let some sites through. While it’s great to be locked away from Facebook and Twitter, people need Google Scholar or Westlaw or etc. to get their work done.
For this reason, I’m very proud to announce the launch of Anti-Social (http://anti-social.cc), my new software that accomplishes just that – it blocks you from hundreds of social sites like Facebook and Twitter, but lets you access the rest of the internet. Anti-Social is just like Freedom in functionality – you give it a time period, and you need to reboot if you want to get back to the social internet.
If you’re not ready to go all the way with Freedom, check out Anti-Social. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and I love being able to do research and listen to music streams while I work, without the worry about distractions from Facebook, Twitter, or even email! (There’s a mode that disables email!).

I think I love you.
Freedom has been a great help to me as an author, but my big frustration with it was that I couldn’t get to e-mail (which is not an addiction or temptation for me, but rather something I need for business) and that I couldn’t stop and do a bit of quick research when I had to.
Now you’re telling me I can block myself out of the sites that ARE an interruption to my productivity, but keep my access to the ones I really need? Fabulous! Can’t wait to try it.
I’m back after using up my trial period — fantastic program, exactly what I need! I’ve now registered and look forward to using it often.
