Freedom is a simple productivity application that locks you away from the internet on Mac or Windows computers for up to eight hours at a time. Freedom frees you from distractions, allowing you time to write, analyze, code, or create. At the end of your offline period, Freedom allows you back on the internet. You can download Freedom immediately for 10 dollars through either PayPal or Google Checkout.

Freedom enforces freedom; you'll need to reboot if you want to get back online while Freedom's running. The hassle of rebooting means you're less likely to cheat, and you'll enjoy enhanced productivity. If you need to be productive, Freedom might be the best 10 dollars you'll ever spend.

Freedom’s Little Brother

One of the most common requests I get regarding Freedom is that people would like to let some sites through. While it’s great to be locked away from Facebook and Twitter, people need Google Scholar or Westlaw or etc. to get their work done.

For this reason, I’m very proud to announce the launch of Anti-Social (http://anti-social.cc), my new software that accomplishes just that – it blocks you from hundreds of social sites like Facebook and Twitter, but lets you access the rest of the internet. Anti-Social is just like Freedom in functionality – you give it a time period, and you need to reboot if you want to get back to the social internet.

If you’re not ready to go all the way with Freedom, check out Anti-Social. I’ve been using it for the past few weeks and I love being able to do research and listen to music streams while I work, without the worry about distractions from Facebook, Twitter, or even email! (There’s a mode that disables email!).
